Steve has many years of bankruptcy experience and is the solo practitioner for the law offices of Costello & Costello, P.C. in Carpentersville, IL.

Steve grew up in the Dundee and Elgin area and graduated from Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in and is a CPA. He received his law degree from Northern Illinois University magna cum laude (with great honors) in 1984 and later that year was sworn to the Illinois Bar and subsequently the Federal Bar in the Northern District of Illinois and is a admitted to the Federal trial bar in the Northern District of Illinois.

Steve is a member of the Kane county Bar association and has served in the past as a member, chair and co-chair of the Bankruptcy and Debtor/Creditor committee with the Kane County Bar association. Steve has been a speaker at many seminars over the years for both the Kane county and DuPage County Bar.

Steve joined practice with his father, Raymond J. Costello in Carpentersville in 1984 at which time the firm became known as Costello & Costello. Steve’s experience in Bankruptcy started with his father who was a Chapter 7 trustee for Kane County and filed bankruptcies and was a regular filer of bankruptcy cases of all kinds including both business and consumer cases in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13. Steve has also represented both Debtors and non-debtors in many varieties of bankruptcy adversary proceedings.

Today Steve’s practice is concentrated nearly exclusively in the field of bankruptcy representing many debtors and non-debtors in chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases and related adversaries. The bulk of his cases arise in Kane County and McHenry County cases and a smattering of DuPage, Cook, Will and Lake County bankruptcies.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Management & Office Manager

Jean been working for the Costello and Costello for 40 years. Her primary duties are the preparation of bankruptcy cases, office management and managing all of the Chapter 7 cases as they go from initial appointment, filing the cases and as they go through the court process to the final discharge and the end of the case.

Jean’s knowledge and experience in handling bankruptcy cases is
a very valuable asset to our firm.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Management

Laurie has been with the law firm for 12 years. Laurie’s duties primarily involve management of the Chapter 13 cases after the cases are filed. This includes making sure documents are forwarded to the case Chapter 13 trustee and that anything required of the trustee and the court is taken care of.

Everyone at Costello Law, including attorney Steve Costello, share many of the duties of each other. Jean and Laurie are both capable of handling each others tasks when necessary.
